WHEELIE

Dude, even your mother could do this trick blindfolded. So if you want to teach her here we go. Remember, there is a difference between a Wheelie and a Manual! A Manual you don't pedal, just kick and show off to the chicks. By leaning back with your body, and pulling on the wheels with your hands, lean way back, so your ass almost gets tire burn, but keep your head up. Keep your arms relaxed, and if you feel the front end dropping, kick out with your knees. Just try to keep at a good rate of speed, be relaxed, and wear a helmet! (as all bmxboys do!!) A Wheelie is just that, you lift up the front wheel with your arms, the rest of your body balances the rest, and you pedal. If you get fancy, perhaps take off one hand and wave to the amazed on lookers.

BUNNYHOP
Just like you are skipping rope in grade school. This trick is essential for any boy who wants to be a real bmxboy. With practice you will get even better. This is when you jump off the ground with out any aides, likes ramps or your buddy. Using your chest and head part of your upper body, lift the front of your bmx bike, and with your ass and legs, lift the rear. You will know you are near perfection when you can easily do 3 feet. Keep trying it; you will need it for all street riding around town.
Find a gullible bud to lie down, and jump over him. Make sure he doesn't sue you!

TOOTHPICK/ICEPICK
Since you are now the master of the bunnyhop world, this will come with ease. A toothpick is using your front peg, and an icepick, is, well using your back peg. A dainty size wall of 3 feet or so is good. For a toothpick, bunnyhop up on the wall landing on your front peg and stay there for a wee bit of time. (staying too long dude will cause you a shitty dismount) Try to keep the rear wheel in line, but vertical. You can use the front brakes, but it should not be necessary, and is usually easier with out. Then using all that might of yours, hop off the wall (away from it, not just down). Make sure you control the bmx and don?t let it take you down. The easy part will be mounting the wall; the hard part will be coming down. For and Icepick, do the exact same only using your rear peg. This may be a bit easier for you to start out with, but it really depends on the boy doing the trick. Keep your front wheel up in the air, and then push away to dismount. To be cool, learn a fancy phrase to say when you dismount, like Oy! The Grind version of this trick can be done too, if you just stay up there a little longer. You will need a bit more speed then you usually have for an Icepick

FACELAND/NOSEPICK
Same trick, different terms. Once again you have to know how to do a bunnyhop for this. Ride along and aim for a point on the road. This is similar to a toothpick, only you need to use your brakes, and you don?t necessarily mount up on a wall. When you see your point pull your front brakes, and balance on your front tire. Then do a small hop with your front wheel, and push off onto your back wheel. difficult to explain. But you ride, brake, jump up onto front tire, hop, then jump back on your front tire and pull away. That?s it in a nutshell. To get fancy, aim for a point at a ledge and do your Faceland/Nosepick just before you hit the edge of it. A lot of riders use variations of this, and combine it with other tricks, likes fakies.

GRINDS
A Feeble Grind, Double Peg Grind and Smith Grind are very similar. With the Feeble Grind your rear pegs grind across a surface, while the front wheel of the bmx rolls across the surface. It is easier if you start off by using a downward slope on a rail on cement surface (like the library, city hall, or Bank of America headquarters). Bunnyhop up onto the wall with your front wheel rolling and rear pegs grinding along. To dismount, bunnyhop off the wall and roll away. Guaranteed you will not succeed at first! A good tip is like skateboarding, you can wax the area first, this way you will slide a bit easier. A fellow rider, Stefan Dupre, suggests that it is imperative to use 4 to 5 inch chrome pegs. A Smith Grind (or sometimes called a Jones Grind, but I have only heard it called this twice) is the opposite of a Feeble Grind. That means your front pegs grinds, while your rear wheel rolls across the surface. Just remember to work on balance and have proper pegs to do all three of these grinds
